The newest addition to my list of favorite things

Gankutsuou, Gonzo's take on the Count of Monte Cristo. Last night I watched the final disc of the series and, while I never read the original novel in it's entirety (decided to watch this first, as is my wont), OH MY GOD this is a great series. Besides being visually stunning, it's one of the most compelling, well acted and well directed shows I've ever seen.

Plus, the Count as a sexy vampire with Nakata Jouji's voice (*shiver*). And I like the homoerotic overtones, thank you very much!

The first one!

The first pic of Japan, that is. I know, I know, I just got back almost 3 weeks ago but don't blame me - this is how long it's taken Mari-chan to get the damn pics to me. I even told her about Picasa, which should make it super easy, but she thinks she should be studying or something I guess (just started her business degree at BU - good luck, Mari-chan!)

Anyway, so this is going to be short - weird sign at Osaka station (I think). This was by one of the bathrooms and neither of us could figure it out. I know the sign has something to do with keeping people from throwing cigarette butts all over the place but it's in a very Japanese, haiku-esque way.

... I think I'd marry this woman. Neko Case, chanteuse and the brilliant artist behind the album Fox Confessor Brings the Flood. I can't stop listening to the damn thing... and I don't even like country. Or at least I never did - now I find myself googling the Carter family! I'm even starting to enjoy the fizzy, silly 60's Brit-pop-ish New Pornographers stuff she did. My big problem with NP's is that there's not enough Neko!

I can't get enough!
